The Los Angeles Lakers would like to add one more center in free agency. Here are three options to do so.
The Los Angeles Lakers have had a very busy offseason. They have continued to get better and add to a roster that is already coming off of winning an NBA championship. With Anthony Davis all but certain to return on a new deal, this team is ready to go after another title.
The Lakers added the two best bench players in the league last year in Dennis Schröder and Montrezl Harrell. That will allow them to give LeBron James more rest and not have to worry about the bench play. Schröder can create his own shot and set others up as well.
The team also brought back Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and added Wesley Matthews. Both will balance out the offense very well. JaVale McGee reportedly is heading Cleveland in a trade, with the Lakers adding Marc Gasol.
The team will now look to replace Dwight Howard’s backup role who left to the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. These are all veteran minimum candidates, that won’t affect the tax line. The free-agent market has dwindled the past few days but there is still some good value out there.
Pelinka will start to see what he can get and what the value may be. Players could be looking at veteran minimum deals that want to win or live on the coast. You saw it with Wesley Matthews who took less on the bi-annual exception to play in Los Angeles.
So here are three center targets for the Lakers to look at.
