The Los Angeles Lakers have an open roster spot and there could be some intriguing candidates being waived.
As the NBA offseason begins to die down, bargain bin hunting begins on the market. With the season four weeks away, the Los Angeles Lakers have an empty roster spot. They have many candidates that they can look at on veteran minimum deals that can contribute.
There are multiple players that have recently been involved in trades or are on big deals that could be waived. This is a team and player work out a deal to form a buyout or just completely stretch the contract. A buyout allows a player to give up some money to go play for another team.
This happens often around the trade deadline because players aren’t happy in their situations. Waive and stretch happens less often in the offseason because that team then carries that contract on their books. The Lakers are still currently dealing with that with Luol Deng.
The Lakers have had a tremendous offseason and now Pelinka will look to put some small finishing touches on. The team will look for a backup center and also a little shooting and defensive effort guy. This roster could be the most complete one LeBron James has ever played with.
The Lakers came into this offseason as 2021 NBA champion favorites. They only boosted those odds this offseason. As they brought in Dennis Schröder, Montrezl Harrell, Wesley Matthews and Marc Gasol.
The team also brought back two big contributors in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Markieff Morris. The team looks as deep as ever.
With that being said he is three candidates that could be waived that could help the team right away.
