What should we look for during the Los Angeles Lakers’ four preseason games?

Less than two months ago LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers were hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy in the bubble. Now they are under two weeks away from the start of their preseason games.

The preseason schedule for the Lakers is quite different than in previous years. In order to limit travel during the pandemic, the Lakers are facing only two different teams, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns. Although the games are just preseason games, fans should be excited to watch the defending champs play the contending Clippers and the new-look Suns.

Despite the expected excitement of kicking off the Lakers season, some red flags will surely arise. As teams and players prepare for basketball life outside of a bubble, this upcoming season will be unlike any other. It will be interesting to see how the Los Angeles Lakers will adjust to their new normal.

Under normal circumstances, the NBA preseason is somewhat unimportant. The games serve as more of a “feeling out” period for head coaches, as they discover lineup options and potential roster additions. However, with an abbreviated offseason and a drastically different roster, the Los Angeles Lakers will have their work cut out for them in their four preseason games.
