The Los Angeles Lakers made a lot of moves to improve this offseason.

We are seventeen days away from the start of the 2020-21 NBA season, and the front office of the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers have not rested on their laurels.

The key pieces of the title-winning core remain in LA, but surrounding LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be a supporting cast that’s quite different from the one we saw in the bubble.

In this article, I’ll cover every major Lakers acquisition this offseason and then grade the moves based on a combination of factors, such as price, the length of their contract, and their perceived fit on the roster.

With all due respect to Jared Dudley, Quinn Cook, and Alfonso McKinnie, this means I’m not going to grade their signings. While I don’t doubt their value off the court, there’s not much point in writing about players who are unlikely to contribute on the court this season.

To kick off the 2020-21 offseason, the Lakers started proceedings off with a bang, orchestrating a trade for a key figure in Oklahoma City’s surprise 2019-20 success.
