1. Montrezl Harrell signs with the Lakers for the mid-level exception

Over the last month or so, many of us wrote about the potential targets for the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency. I can almost guarantee that Montrezl Harrell was not on any of those lists.

Montrezl Harrell was one of the best options available. The Sixth Man of the Year winner was on pace for a massive contract offer in free agency prior to the Clippers’ bubble appearance. Harrell was a walking double-double and would provide a much-needed punch off of the bench.

Harrell definitely disappointed to end last season. Along with others on the team, Montrezl Harrell was forced to carry the burden of giving up a 3-1 series lead to the Denver Nuggets, capping off yet another underachieving season for the Clippers.

After taking plenty of blame for the collapse, Montrezl decided to take his talents to the other side of Staples Center and join fellow Klutch players LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The Los Angeles Lakers win the award for the most surprising deal of free agency in signing Harrell. If he can provide the same type of impact off of the bench this coming season the Lakers should boast one of the best benches in the NBA.
