The Los Angeles Lakers got their first win of the season on Christmas against the Dallas Mavericks.

After losing NBA’s opening night game to the Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers put on a show in front of a nationally televised audience running the Dallas Mavericks out of the Staples Center. Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schroder illuminated Rob Pelinka’s vision from the offseason. Lake Show Life brings holiday cheer with Lake Show Life Lessons. The only Los Angeles Lakers extended post-game with highlights and analysis.

The Los Angeles Lakers matchup against the Dallas Mavericks was supposed to be the “Must-see TV” matchup of ESPN’s much-hyped five-game Christmas Day lineup on Friday. The marketing hype was strong for this game pitting Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

  • The young up and comer against the establishment.
  • Old lion against young lion.
  • The present against the future.
  • The new media darling to replace LeBron James when the King starts to fade.

After a while, the young stars will call the NBA marketing and promotion department to tell them to ease back on these promotion practices. The only thing it does is get LeBron James’ attention and then he reminds the NBA world who he is and what he can do on Christmas Day.

This Christmas Day was no different. LeBron James sent a message to the NBA, the young stars and anyone else that wants to replace him and his team at the top of the basketball world.

Luka Doncic may be the NBA’s future and a potential MVP to some, but this game showed undeniable evidence that the NBA symbol of excellence is in Los Angeles. Taking it further, the possible replacement to LeBron James’ spot as the NBA’s best player might be one seat on the bench next to LeBron in Anthony Davis.

After the Los Angeles Lakers fans opened up the gifts under the Christmas tree and fought food comas, the new free agency toys bought by “Santa Pelinka Claus” and Ms Jeanie Buss Claus, in Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schroder kept Lakers Nation awake as the Lake Show smoked the Dallas Mavericks in a 138-115 win.

This performance wasn’t a surprise. Even though the Lakers lost opening night to their cross the hall rival Clippers, nobody was worried about a two-game losing streak.

This just into Lake Show Life, Shannon Sharpe was right. This game was about early focus for the Lakers. Instead of spotting Dallas a 22 point lead like they did the  Clippers, the stars set the tone early by being aggressive while allowing the newcomers, Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell in on the party. How dominant was the foursome of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Schroder and Harrell?

They combined to score 90 points themselves.

This game showed the NBA that LeBron and AD can be solid and teams can still get run out of the gym. The Lakers bench led by Trez combined for an absurd 60 points. This team is an embarrassment of riches.

To anyone that wants to float that Kristaps Porzingis injury as a possible narrative, Lake Show Life has some advice. Nod your head, laugh and walk away. The Dallas Mavericks weren’t that strong to begin with, but the top two sixth men last year further exposed the Mavericks soft “Charmin” style defense.
