The 2-2 Los Angeles Lakers are on the road for the first time this season as they take on the 2-1 San Antonio Spurs.
The Los Angeles Lakers are fresh off of their first back-to-back of the season and have to play three games in four days as they are on the road to take on the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.
The Lakers play the Spurs in back-to-back games, next playing the team on New Year’s Day (Friday). LA then heads to Memphis for two games against the Grizzlies before returning home on January 7 to host, you guessed it, the Spurs.
According to The Action Network, the Lakers enter this game as 5.5-point favorites over the Spurs with a points total of 299.5.
As part of the Lake Show Life Podcast, Daniel Preciado and I give our picks both against the spread and against the point total for every Laker game. We both went 0-2 against the Blazers, as we took the Lakers against the spread as favorites as well as over 225.
The Lakers lost and the under hit by 3 points. That makes Daniel’s record on the year 4-4, while my record moves to 3-5.
The LSL podcast is taking a very brief hiatus, so we are taking our betting picks here to the website. Here is how we have the game going down.
Jason: Lakers -5.5, under 229.5 (Final score: 115-100, Los Angeles Lakers)
Daniel: Lakers -5.5, over 229.5 (Final score: 120-111, Los Angeles Lakers)
Daniel and I both have the Lakers covering 5.5 and if all goes as planned, it hopefully won’t be close. The Spurs are 2-1 and are very well-coached but they simply do not have the overall talent and depth to match the Lakers.
That doesn’t always lead to the expected results, that’s why we play the games. However, fresh off of a loss and a really disappointing performance, I would expect Anthony Davis to have a huge game in this one.
Who is going to stop AD on the Spurs? LaMarcus Aldridge? Exactly.
Interestingly enough, Daniel has the over barely hitting while I have the under. It really depends on how much the Spurs score. Daniel has a bit more respect for them, giving them 111 points in a nine-point loss.
I think they are going to struggle with the Lakers, even if the Lakers’ defense has some early-season hiccups. They’ll score exactly 100 in a better defensive showing by LA.
