Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron gets a gift in win over Spurs, 5 Lessons
By Ronald Agers
The Los Angeles Lakers emerged victorious on LeBron James’ birthday.
The Los Angeles Lakers took to their act on the road for the first time this season to take on the San Antonio Spurs. LeBron James played his 8th NBA game on his birthday. There probably won’t be a birthday party afterwards but a win will have to suffice for now.
Lake Show Life breaks down what happened in Lake Show Life Lessons! The only Los Angeles Lakers extended post game report with in-depth analysis and highlights.
For a team that couldn’t go out to celebrate LeBron James’ birthday afterwards, the Los Angeles Lakers were out of sorts in the first half of their game against the San Antonio Spurs. Despite their sloppy play, the Lakers were able to stay in control for most of the game and won by a comfortable margin of 121-107.
Who can believe that LeBron James, who entered the NBA at 18, has dominated on his birthday for the eighth time in his career? According to Elias Sports Bureau, he had the highest scoring average of any player in NBA history playing on his birthday at 32.9 points per game.
Dominique Wilkins is second at 32.7 points.
Shaquille O’Neal, while lighting up the Clippers (And Keith Closs!) for 61 points on his birthday for not double teaming him to his liking, is third at 29.4 points a game.
The Los Angeles Lakers have a unique talent of finding all time scorers. Especially before the age of 36.
- James came into the night with the most points before age 36 in NBA history with 34,332.
- Kobe Bryant is second with 31,700 points.
- Wilt Chamberlain is third with 30,335 points.
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is fourth with 29,779 points.
- Shoot, does Karl Malone count? He even played for the Lakers one year!
This was a game that will define many nights for the Los Angeles Lakers. They have too much talent for half the NBA. If any NBA team lacks a superstar that can take over, the Lake Show can coast around and find a way to win. The Lakers won despite these factors.
- The interior defense for the Los Angeles Lakers was bad at the beginning. The Spurs had plenty of opportunities for dunks and layups. The only reason the Lakers didn’t get in trouble was because San Antonio blew a lot of them at point blank range.
- Anthony Davis is showing heart but he is hurting.
- Alex Caruso’s will be out for the rest of the week because of NBA’s health protocol.
- Turnovers turn into easy baskets for opponents.
Anyone that caught the game was witness to history on Wednesday night.
To put this event in perspective, just take a gander at how long this took to happen.
