1. LeBron James: Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Lakers, October 9, 2020

  • Box score: 40 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals

The greatest game that a Los Angeles Lakers star has played against his former team happened just three months ago. LeBron James played a sensational game in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, with one big downfall of the performance — the team lost.

It certainly was not LeBron’s fault, though, as he showed up ready to dominate and clinch the NBA Championship wearing the Black Mamba jerseys. LeBron went out and dropped a casual 40 points in an NBA Finals game.

LeBron nearly had the 40-point triple-double and was crazy efficient in this game. He made 15 of 21 shots and made six of nine from three. He was great offensively and played solid defense on the other end as well.

The Lakers probably should have won this game as well. If you recall, Danny Green got the most wide-open three-point attempt of his NBA career with seven seconds left and the Lakers down one. Green bricked the three, leading the Heat to take a three-point lead and the Lakers were unable to tie the game.

The fact that it is a loss sours it a bit but it was still a sensational game on the biggest stage of them all. It was fantastic for LeBron James’ standards as well. Using the Game Score statistic again, this was the 10th best playoff game in LeBron’s career.

That is quite remarkable. LeBron has played 260 playoff games and only 21 of those 260 came on the Lakers.
