Los Angeles Lakers: Betting picks and preview vs. Golden State Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers have really hit their stride, winning five games in a row heading into Monday night. The last four of the five wins have been in blowout fashion as well, with the only close game coming against the Chicago Bulls.

The Lakers are a league-best 11-3 and are entering a really interesting two-game stretch that could raise their stock even higher. The Lakers host the Warriors on Monday night in a marquee matchup and are on the road on Thursday to take on the Eastern Conference-leading Milwaukee Bucks.

That could be an NBA Finals preview and the game vs. the Warriors could be an NBA Playoffs preview. Right now, the Warriors are the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

Although Stephen Curry has been playing fantastic this season, this Warriors team is nowhere close to the level that it was even before Kevin Durant. That is reflected in the betting lines, as according to the BetMGM odds via the Action Network, the Lakers are 8.5-point favorites over the Warriors. The point total is 226.5.

As part of the Lake Show Life Podcast, I pick against both the spread and the point total in the Los Angeles Lakers’ games. Thus far this season I am a very disappointing 11-13.

  • Warriors +8.5, over 226.5 (Final score: Lakers 119, Warriors 113)

I have been losing a lot of games because I keep picking against these high point spreads. The only game in the five-game winning streak that I thought LA could actually lose was the second game against Houston. Aside from that, I have had the Lakers winning all these games, just in closer margins.

It may not have worked thus far but I am going to go with the same logic in this one. The Lakers win the game, but the Warriors win as far as Las Vegas is concerned. You can hear my reasoning in the latest episode of the Lake Show Life Podcast below.

Along with the betting predictions and game preview, I also talk about the James Harden trade, how that affects the Los Angeles Lakers and how it was inadvertently caused by the Lakers.

I also bring the purple and gold players of the game. The purple player is a non-star on the Warriors that the Lakers must keep from having a good game. The gold player is a non-star on the Lakers that will have a solid game against Golden State.
