The Los Angeles Lakers welcomed back Talen Horton-Tucker and the second unit finished off the Bulls!

Now after the first three pages, you would think that this game was totally dominated by the Los Angeles Lakers. Well it actually happened that way. However, the Lake Show took a nap in the third quarter giving up the same amount of points (33) as the entire first half. Before it looked like a repeat of the Warriors game on Monday, the bench put the game away in the fourth quarter.

Then Frank Vogel rolled out Kyle Kuzma, Alex Caruso, Montrezl Harrell, Wesley Matthews and Talen Horton-Tucker to start the last quarter. Then the Bulls offense was thrown back in the broom closet being held scoreless for five minutes to start the period.

Game over.

Alex Caruso:

Sometimes it’s fun listening to opposing teams’ broadcast teams. When it relates to Caruso, it’s the same old thing.

  • The Los Angeles Lakers fans love him because he’s a great story coming out of Texas A&M.
  • He is a cult figure in Lakers Nation!
  • Oh he’s a great teammate and the rest of the roster loves him because of his hustle.
  • The staff’s favorite? His headband. Stacey King was clowning him saying that headbands aren’t for everybody. He even called him “Sweet Pea” from the Popeye cartoons!

Well Caruso came off the bench and locked up Zach LaVine like Popeye after he had a can of spinach. After Lavine lit up Caruso and the Lakers for 38 points in Los Angeles, Caruso helped to contain the Bulls star to just 21 points on 9-23 shooting with 5 fouls and 7 turnovers. Coby White was even worse with an inefficient 14 points.

Welcome back Talen Horton-Tucker:

After a couple of games modeling warmup outfits in the lay-up line, Talen Horton-Tucker got to play in his hometown. He had a valuable contribution, leading the bench in scoring with 10 points (3-6 shooting!) with 2 rebounds and a steal.

This was a great move by Frank Vogel allowing him to play in front of his friends and family. Frank Vogel knows that allowing him to play will help so much mentally in his development process. Another DNP-CD could have hurt THT’s confidence sitting the bench in front of his loved ones. This will go a long way on keeping THT engaged for the future.

The Los Angeles Lakers have another homecoming of sorts on Monday when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hopefully LeBron will approach his homecoming like Davis and THT did in Chicago.
