The Los Angeles Lakers finally got to look inside the Staples Center after a seven-game road trip trying to get over .500 at home. Did they do it?

Lake Show Life breaks down what else happened in Lake Show Life Lessons! The only Los Angeles Lakers extended post-game report with in-depth analysis and highlights.

A Lake Show Life fun fact: If you watched the first half and decided to get some sleep, the staff doesn’t blame you. But if you hung around for the second half, you witnessed the best defensive performance of the NBA season.

Well, one thing is for sure. This game didn’t go down to the wire like this playoff game in the bubble now did it?

The Los Angeles Lakers probably were thrilled to open a five-game homestand after such a lengthy road trip. After spotting the Denver Nuggets the entire first half, the Lakers did a Dick Vitale instructional mixtape on how to play NBA defense rolling to a 114-93 win. With their 11th win in 14 games, they pull to a tie for second place in the Western Conference race with the Los Angeles Clippers.

This game was all about defense. Something Frank Vogel and LeBron James weighed in on via ESPN.

"LeBron James: “We hang our hats on our defense,” James said. “We’re the No. 1 defensive team in the league, and we want to continue that.” Frank Vogel: “When we put our minds to it, this team can do great things,” Vogel said. “We were able to basically double their scoring in the second half, 68-35. We did it against a great opponent. It was a heck of a second half for us.”"

This was a game of runs in the second half. The problem for Denver was they all belonged to Los Angeles.

A 15-0 run in the third quarter that was extended to 20-4, capped off with this LeBron James pass that makes no sense…

By the time the dust cleared, the Lakers went from a 12 point halftime deficit to embarrassing the Denver Nuggets on national television with a 46-18 run. The second half was a showcase of lockdown defense, forced turnovers and racing back down the court on a fast break.

For over a five minute span, the Nuggets could only watch because they didn’t score.

Another game, another record for the Lake Show as the margin of victory was the largest in franchise history after trailing by double digits at halftime going back as far as 1968.

The Detroit Pistons run it back at the Staples Center on Saturday. After the Pistons put a whipping on the Lakers last week, say a little prayer for the visitors. It’s a safe assumption that AD will be playing.
