Los Angeles Lakers will redeem themselves: Betting picks vs. Pistons
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night in a rematch of a game from the Lakers’ recent seven-game road trip.
The first game was extremely ugly for the Lake Show. It was the second leg of a road back-to-back and you could tell that the Lakers played eight quarters of basketball in 36 hours. Anthony Davis did not play and despite being a close game heading into the fourth, the final score was 107-92 as the Lakers fell apart in the fourth quarter.
Now they are back at home and are coming off of a rest day. The Lakers had a fantastic win over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday while the Pistons got shelled by the Phoenix Suns last night. Now they are the team on a road back-to-back.
As part of the Lake Show Life Podcast, I have been picking against the spread and the point total in most Laker games. I have missed a handful, including Thursday’s game. It is a shame too because I definitely would have picked Lakers -4.5.
Regardless, I have 23-17 record after going 1-1 in the Atlanta Hawks game. According to the Bet MGM lines on the Action Network, the Lakers are13.5-point favorites in this game.
Whoa.
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Detroit Pistons betting picks:
- Los Angeles Lakers -13.5, under 213.5 (Final score: Los Angeles Lakers 110, Detroit Pistons 95)
I rarely take lines that are this high. There is too much variability in the NBA to pick a 13.5-point favorite. Sure, the Lakers are 95% going to win this game as there is no way that they lose to Detroit twice, but can they win by 14? That is a lot.
I think they will. The Lakers are entering a pretty easy stretch of games and they do not have a big game coming up that could make this a trap game. They play the Thunder twice and then the Grizzlies before traveling to Denver to take on the Nuggets again.
The Lakers are also due for another blowout game. Yes, they just beat the Nuggets by 19, but it was not a blowout. That game was really close until the Lakers went on a crazy run at the end of the third quarter and in the fourth quarter.
The last game that the Lakers won by 14+ points, before the Denver game, was against the Pelicans all the way back on January 15.
They are due for a huge win against a terrible team. In fact, the Lakers have played nine games this season against teams that 10th or worst in their respective conferences. The only loss was against Detroit. The winning margins were: 23, 36, 2, 18, 17, 29, 17, 11.
The Los Angeles Lakers typically beat up on bad teams.
