The Los Angeles Lakers are favorites to win the NBA Championship in 2021 and as title favorites, they are also the favorites to sign players on the buyout market. Players who are bought out are chasing rings and there is no better place to do that than in Los Angeles.

The buyout market has not yet formed but there are some intriguing names that could be available. Trevor Ariza is someone who is primed to be bought out and has already been connected to the Lakers. Andre Drummond is perhaps the biggest potential buyout and it would be imperative that the Lakers sign him if he indeed is bought out.

Regardless of who it is, the Lakers are going to have to waive someone on the roster in order to free up the spot for said player. DeMarcus Cousins was waived last year to make room for Markieff Morris.

So who may the Los Angeles Lakers waive for a buyout player this year?

There are three instant standouts to be buyout options. There is the possibility of the Lakers wanting to bring in multiple bought out players so we could see two or even three of these players waived. I would be highly surprised if the Lakers bring in more than three bought out players.

In order from the most likely to the least likely, here are the three players that the Los Angeles Lakers could waive to open up a roster spot.
