The Los Angeles Lakers was supposed to blow out the Detroit Pistons, get home and get some sleep and watch the Super Bowl. To say that didn’t happen was an understatement as a undermanned Pistons team pushed the Lake Show to the limit in a double overtime marathon!
Lake Show Life breaks down what else happened in Lake Show Life Lessons! The only Los Angeles Lakers extended post-game report with in-depth analysis and highlights.
Lakers Nation will be probably watching the Super Bowl pitting Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. If there is a party (Hope not, but whatever!) there’s going to be someone that will talk about two NBA stories on Saturday night.
The first topic of discussion will be how Stephen Curry dropped 57 points on the Dallas Mavericks and how Luka nearly matched him with 42 points and 11 assists.
The other discussion is how the Los Angeles Lakers can struggle so mightily against the Detroit Pistons, who owns the worst record in the NBA.
Despite the Pistons playing without Blake Griffin and Wayne Ellington, who shot lights out in Motown, the Lakers survived with a 135-129 win in double overtime.
The Pistons even came into the game with news behind the scenes. Derrick Rose will be GONE by the trade deadline according to Shams Charania and James Edwards III of The Athletic. He did not suit up either.
"The New York Knicks are engaged in active talks to acquire the Pistons guard, a move that would reunite the former league MVP with head coach Tom Thibodeau, sources tell The Athletic. The Pistons and Rose mutually agreed that a trade would be best for both sides, per sources. While there is a great deal of respect for one another, the rebuilding Pistons plan to increase their usage of young players as the season progresses, according to those sources. Sources say the Pistons have received interest in Rose from several teams. The Clippers have also expressed interest in the 12-year veteran, sources said."
Before Lake Show Life delves into the game, heed this warning. The Los Angeles Lakers are not going to trade for him. Let it go. This writer’s guess is New York. Don’t want to believe? Okay cool. But Luol Deng found himself in Minnesota (Remember him?) with Tom Thibodeau with Derrick Rose who both played under Thibs in Chicago. Oh and the Knicks just signed Taj Gibson. See the trend?
The Lakers now have an 18-6 record and four-game winning streak, despite showing all of the characteristics of a team wanting to watch football instead.
