The Los Angeles Lakers went on the road to play the Denver Nuggets. They lost the game, but that doesn’t matter. They got blown out, but that doesn’t matter. The Los Angeles Lakers lost Anthony Davis in the first half with an Achilles injury. Now THAT matters!

This is supposed to be a post-game report. It doesn’t matter. Let’s fill the obligation of saying the Los Angeles Lakers lost the game to the Denver Nuggets 122-105. The loss snaps the Lakers’ seven-game winning streak.

Here’s the story of the game. It will be repeated, but until Anthony Davis gets his MRI on his Achilles injury, this is all that matters.

Lake Show Life sends our prayers to Anthony Davis hoping that it’s minor and he can get back to the court soon.

The good from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

Talen Horton-Tucker had a solid bounce-back game!

THT made some waves coming off the bench for the Lakers. He had 6 points and 3 assists in his first 8 minutes. He continued to attack the basket but he slowed down a little from the last few games. At times he tends to put his head down and bum rush the basket. Here’s what happens when he shifts his gears.

He finished with 10 points and 5 assists. Speaking of the guy THT passed the ball to…let’s talk about him.

LeBron James played great… well at the start!

It’s no longer about the numbers that LeBron is putting up that will have him in the Hall of Fame the second he gets his son Bronny James acclimated to the NBA. It’s about the efficiency and ease in the way he is doing it at this point.

He’s putting up crazy numbers, but as this site says over and over again, his basketball I.Q. has the rest of the NBA playing checkers while he’s playing chess. He had 19 in the first half.

However, in the second half, he disappeared. He went scoreless in the third quarter until he got to the free-throw line in the last minute. By then the game was over. He finished with 22 points.

Kyle Kuzma is balling Lakers fans:

The writer is biased because Kuz is from Flint Michigan, but he’s playing so well right now that doesn’t matter. He’s turning into a rebounding machine (Coming into this game he had 29 rebounds in the last three games with 11 on the offensive end!) and he is using his decisive cuts to carve out scoring opportunities.

Now that AD is out for the immediate future (If the Lakers are smart!), take a look at the starting power forward for the Lake Show. he finished with 19 points and 8 rebounds.

The bad from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

The Lakers allowed Nikola Jokic to get untracked!

When the Los Angeles Lakers ran past the Denver Nuggets, the main reason was keeping the Joker off the floor with foul trouble and keeping him on the move chasing the front line. Eventually, he got tired and became a non-factor.

In the Staples Center, Jokic finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds. By the end of the first quarter, those numbers were almost matched with 12 points and 3 rebounds in only 11 minutes. He finished with a triple-double collecting 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists.

Jamal “Bubble” Murray showed up:

Jamal Murray found out this season that playing as the Nuggets second star brings challenges. After exploding in the bubble last year, he hasn’t played that well. In this game, Murray gave the Lakers some business cards scoring 25 points with a +27 plus/minus ratio.

The Denver Nuggets did not turn the ball over:

A major part of the Lakers’ offense is turning the opponent over and getting the fast break started for easy baskets. If they don’t, the offense stagnates. Lake Show Life projects that teams have to stay below 10 turnovers to have a chance to win against the Lake Show. Denver finished with only 9 turnovers.

The starting lineup not named Anthony Davis and LeBron James aren’t scoring enough.

Basketball is simple math. The high score wins.

  • Dennis Schroder: 8 points 3-10 shooting!
  • Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: 7 points 2-6 shooting!
  • Marc Gasol: 5 points 2-4 shooting!

In comparison with players no one has ever heard of besides friends, family and fans before tonight…

Facundo Campazzo: 15 points on 4-8 shooting!

Zeke Nnaji: 16 points on 5-7 shooting!

Kyle Kuzma for the second straight game put up stats in scoring and rebounding that rivaled the Lakers starters COMBINED! Analytics apologists can start defending in the comment section. Good luck.

Anthony Davis is injured folks. Not hurt. But INJURED!

There is a huge difference between a player being hurt and being injured. At this point in the season, every NBA player that gets regular minutes plays hurt. The amount of pounding their bodies take cannot be described unless a person has experienced it.

Professional athletes can play through pain. Being injured is different because it requires rest. AD’s Achilles injury needs rest. He is injured. Lake Show Life was on record saying that Anthony Davis should sit out for a few weeks.

At 2:36 of the second quarter, Davis was bumped by Nikola Jokic. He was seen on camera rubbing his Achilles going to the free-throw line. After he hit his free throws he did not move and the Lakers had to foul so he could go to the locker room.

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have to do better with this. Granted there are lazy narratives born from load management. Social media fake doctors will troll AD if he sits out. However, if this man does not get back to close to 100% for the playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers don’t go back to back. PERIOD!

The good news? The Lakers have about 50 games left in the season to get their franchise player ready and healthy. It’ll be bad news if the Lakers handle the injury as they did previously. He finished with 15 points.

The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

Anthony Davis’ MRI tomorrow:

The result of this game does not matter. Bottom line if you are a Los Angeles Lakers fan, what you just read does not matter. What is reported about AD’s injury is the only thing that should matter for the next 24-48 hours. The Lakers’ championship chances lie within what the doctors and specialists find.

If the Lakers get lucky and it’s just reaggravated, they need to look the man in the eye and say “SIT DOWN”! This is not a shoulder injury from last year. This is not about proving toughness. This is about a long term goal of winning an NBA title this year and long-term health in the coming years.

Lake Show Life requested long term rest for Anthony Davis. Hopefully, the Los Angeles Lakers listen to our requests. It ain’t popular to read but the truth sometimes never is.

Lake Show Life’s more in-depth breakdowns will come in Lake Show Life Lessons tomorrow. Keep it locked for the only Los Angeles Lakers post-game report with highlights and in-depth analysis.
