The Los Angeles Lakers have looked dangerous in the early goings of the season. LeBron James is still a unicorn who amazes fans with his performances on a nightly basis. Anthony Davis is still a force on both ends of the floor and the Lakers roster as a whole has gotten even better which pre-Free Agency many didn’t think was possible.
The Lakers are deep at virtually every position and with the emergence of Talen Horto-Tucker, they are potentially too deep at certain positions.
This potentially spells trouble for the newly signed wing Wesley Matthews.
According to David Aldridge of The Athletic, it seems that certain promises might have been made to Matthews when he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
For Wes Matthews, being able to step directly into a starting role with the Lakers created by the Danny Green trade to OKC was too good to pass up, per source. One instance where the compressed end of season/draft/FA period/start of next season probably didn’t help Milwaukee.

So far this season, while Matthews is getting minutes in the Lakers rotation, those minutes are not starter minutes with KCP being preferred at shooting guard and Dennis Schröder the point guard of choice.
With Talen Horton-Tucker making the case for even more minutes and a significant role on the team, could this and should this come at the expense of Matthews?
That is up for debate, but the purple and gold have a dilemma on their hands. Can they keep Matthews happy if he isn’t starting and his minutes are dwindling? Should the Lakers consider trading Matthews to allow him to go elsewhere and play a larger role?
Here are 3 trades the Los Angeles Lakers could make involving Wesley Matthews.
Note: Wesley Matthews cannot be traded until 18th February 2021. Any and all trade scenario’s start on this date.
