3. DeMarcus Cousins is exactly what the Los Angeles Lakers need

The final thing we should mention is DeMarcus Cousins’ fit on the Los Angeles Lakers. All the stars could align for him to sign with Los Angeles but if the team does not even have a need for Cousins then all of that is irrelevant.

The Los Angeles Lakers absolutely need what Cousins brings to the table and it is something that has been well-documented here at Lake Show Life this season. Marc Gasol has been a negative on the offensive side of the ball and with Morris’ poor play, the Lakers really need a second traditional center.

Cousins provides just that. But he provides more as well that is even more applicable to the team right now.

The Lakers’ three-point shooting has been at a disadvantage against better teams in the league and we saw that against the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat. Boogie is not an elite three-point shooter by any means, but he can help space the floor.

More importantly, he could give the Lakers another consistent scoring presence with Anthony Davis hurt. This version of Cousins is not close to Davis, but he can at least provide the same style of big to the team to help the offensive side of the basketball. The floor spacing will get better with Cousins on the floor.

This is important to Cousins as it ensures he will go somewhere where he will get decent playing time. While he is going to want to contend for a ring, he also should want to play as much as possible to get a decent contract. He missed out on his big money, this year is extremely important to him.
