The Los Angeles Lakers made their first big roster move of the season by releasing Quinn Cook before his contract became fully guaranteed on February 27th. The Lakers now have an open roster spot as well as more space under the hard cap than would have been possible if Cook’s contract was fully guaranteed.

The Lakers will eventually use that roster spot, likely for a bought-out player. It has been reported that the Lakers are unlikely to reunite with DeMarcus Cousins, so at this point, we are simply waiting for the buyout market to further develop to see who will actually be available.

What we do know is that Quinn Cook likely will not be alone. Whether it be via trade or getting cut, the Lakers will likely part ways with at least one more member of the roster to make space for an improvement.

The Lakers have several players at the end of the rotation who are not playing that could easily be let go. Plus, recent history indicates that they will go in this direction. Troy Daniels and Cousins were the two players last season that did not make it to the end of the season.

The Los Angeles Lakers have candidates on who to cut/trade next

Realistically, there are two players that the Los Angeles Lakers could potentially move on from after cutting Quinn Cook. One of these players could be released and the other is a potential trade chip, although I would not rule out a trade.

Here are two players that could follow Quinn Cook’s lead and wind up on a different basketball team this season.
