The Los Angeles Lakers tried to end their three-game slide at the worst time possible. They were on the road playing the best team in the NBA in the Utah Jazz, who are not only beating teams at a historic rate winning 22 of 24 games, but are blowing teams off the floor doing it. The Los Angeles Lakers did not win this game and didn’t keep it close.

The Los Angeles Lakers were down by only one point after the first quarter. Then the Utah Jazz starting firing missiles from the 3-point line and the game was over by halftime. The Lakers basically quit by the third quarter and LeBron James got his rest in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers losing streak now stands at four games with a humbling 114-89 loss to the Utah Jazz. Dennis Schroder can’t get back to the lineup soon enough for Friday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Lake Show Life is on record saying this, if the Los Angeles Lakers don’t get it together, there is a chance they could lose EVERY GAME until the All-Star break.

The good from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

LeBron James dunked a lot!

LeBron James had three early dunks through the lane and dropped Rudy Gobert on a dribble. Okay, that’s the highlights that don’t matter. He finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. He turned the ball over four times and it’s getting to the point that the Lake Show Life staff wishes he would stop shooting 3 points shots. He shot 1-5 in this game and has a three-game stretch of 4-23.

The game ended!

The bad from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

Mike Conley got left off the All-Star team!

So many times in the past a player gets left off the All-Star team or the Olympic team (Isiah Thomas destroying John Stockton comes to mind after being left off the Dream Team!) where a player comes out with a little bit of motivation.

Mike Conley probably should have made the team (Good luck taking a player off though!) but he put on a full display on why he was worthy. He knocked down his first four shots from distance (5-5 overall!) in the first half for 14 points.

Man… this Utah Jazz team can shoot 3 pointers!

Lake Show Life could criticize the Los Angeles Lakers for perimeter defense like every other game this year, but let’s go another route. The Utah Jazz can shoot lights out from behind the arc. They set a franchise record for 3 pointers in a half with 14 before halftime. 14-23 from the land of the extra point is absurd for an entire game much less in the first 24 minutes of any basketball game!

All of this!

Or this…

This is not about analysis, this is about effort. These two plays illustrate the night. The Lakers were shorthanded looking for excuses and the Utah Jazz didn’t care.

The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

The Los Angeles Lakers are not a good team. That’s it. There was no energy, no resistance and no urgency. LeBron James set the tone for the basketball team, probably wanting his 15+ points 5+ rebounds 5+ assist stat line to keep his record and get out of town. He didn’t even get that as the streak ended.

The new Frank Vogel starting lineup did not work out as planned. How Markieff Morris can play so listlessly for so many games only to rewarded with a starting spot makes no sense other than showcasing for a possible trade. Something Lake Show Life Editor Jason Reed discussed a few days ago.

There will be media and casual fans that will give you the “When Anthony Davis gets back, the Lakers will be fine!” speech. Well, the Los Angeles Lakers will be playing quite a few games until then.

If the Lakers play like this going forward, look for a sixth to eighth seed going into the playoffs with a second-round exit. They are that bad right now and AD is not enough to cover all of the problems surrounding the Lake Show right now.

Lake Show Life’s more in-depth breakdowns will come in Lake Show Life Lessons tomorrow. Keep it locked for the only Los Angeles Lakers post-game report with highlights and in-depth analysis.
