The Los Angeles Lakers have lost three games in a row and have lost four of their last five. The Lakers have really been struggling without Anthony Davis, who strained his calf at the start of this five-game stretch against the Denver Nuggets.

In the grand scheme of things, five games in the regular season do not really matter. The Lakers lost four games in a row last season and went on to win the NBA Championship and you don’t hear anyone talking about that four-game losing streak.

Chances are you don’t even remember who they lost to in those games.

However, there have been some alarming signs for the Lakers this season. They are obviously still the most talented team top-to-bottom in the league, but they have played so many close games against far lesser opponents and have a losing record against teams that they may see in the NBA Playoffs.

The Lakers very well could be suffering from a minor NBA Title hangover, which is understandable as the Lakers and Heat had to overcome the shortest offseason in American sports history.

Regardless of the rhyme or reason, it is clear that the Los Angeles Lakers need to bring in help. They started placing those dominos to fall by waiving Quinn Cook, as Rob Pelinka too realizes that they need help.

That was the topic in our latest Los Angeles Lakers podcast

I dive into some of the main reasons why the Lakers might need more help than some people realize, including for LeBron James, who is playing great basketball this season. He is playing great but the Lakers have to remember the end goal of the season and I explain how additional help could be extremely beneficial to LeBron James in the long-run.

I also preview the upcoming game against the Utah Jazz and name the purple and gold players of the game. The purple player is a role player on the other team that the Lakers must look to contain; the gold player is a role player on the Los Angeles Lakers that is predicted to have a great showing.

I went with former Laker Jordan Clarkson for my purple player and Alex Caruso for the gold player. You can hear my reasoning in the podcast that is embedded above.

Next. 2 players that could be leaving LA next. dark

Quite frankly, I do not think the Los Angeles Lakers have much of a chance against the Utah Jazz in this game, but if they already would have added help (granted it is not their fault), then I would feel a lot better.
