The Los Angeles Lakers enter the NBA All-Star Break as the fourth-place team in the Western Conference, which is much lower than Laker fans expected before the season. While the top of the West is crowded, record-wise, the Lakers have not been as good as expected.
But that is not a reason to panic. Anthony Davis has been injured and the Lakers are coming off of the shortest offseason in the history of American sports. There was naturally going to be some speed bumps early on.
However, just because it is not time to panic does not mean that the Lakers should be stationary. This is a team that needs help in some capacity, whether it is the buyout market or via trade.
Why the Los Angeles Lakers NEED to make an addition:
1. The Los Angeles Lakers need more depth while Anthony Davis is out
Depth is never a bad thing and having more depth allows the Los Angeles Lakers to be as cautious as possible as Anthony Davis returns from his Achilles injury. Achilles injuries are very troublesome for NBA players and rushing AD at all would be a massive mistake.
We have already seen how thin this Lakers team looks with Anthony Davis out. Not only are they missing their second-best player, but it is completely throwing off all of the rotations and how this team plays basketball.
They obviously are not going to get anyone close to AD’s talent level but if they could get someone who could at least has the same player-mold as Davis could be helpful. It might not be as big of a deal once AD returns, but for the time being, it helps the Lakers fall too far behind in the Western Conference standings.
