How the Los Angeles Lakers could trade for Victor Oladipo
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to make any additions during the season that will help the team become back-to-back NBA Champions. Last season, it was a move as small as signing Markieff Morris on the buyout market. Morris, who is not playing as well this season, shot 42% from three in the NBA Playoffs for the purple and gold last season.
Perhaps the Lakers could fry a bigger fish this season. The team did not sign Blake Griffin, who is easily the most notable buyout player of all-time. There is the possibility of the Lakers signing Andre Drummond if he is bought out, which would be huge for the team.
Another big name that is likely going to be on the move in the coming weeks is Victor Oladipo. The Houston Rockets are reportedly going to have a fire sale this season and Oladipo is a prime candidate to be traded.
He is in the last year of his contract and was received as part of the James Haden trade. If the Rockets could flip Oladipo for more assets that would be great for the team.
The Lakers have already been tied to P.J. Tucker, so perhaps there os already a baseline with the Rockets to work out a deal for Victor Oladipo.
But is it possible for the Los Angeles Lakers to trade for Victor Oladipo?
The Los Angeles Lakers do have their hands tied a bit as they do not have that many movable contracts nor much young/draft capital as other teams. However, with Oladipo not playing up to his best potential, the Lakers might be able to get a steal for half a season of the former all-star.
A trade is possible but is it likely? Let’s break down what an Oladipo trade could look like as well as whether or not both sides should do it.
