The Los Angeles Lakers bench ran roughshod over the Golden State Warriors!

As dominant as Montrezl Harrell was in this game, he wasn’t the only player on the Lakers’ bench to put on a show. The bench mob outscored the Warriors bench 71-40. Take a second to let that sink in and read on about the individuals that stood out.

Kyle Kuzma:

Kyle Kuzma, who is on a serious hot streak through the All-Star break, shook off that free throw situation and put up his own efficient stat line of 17 points (7-11 shooting! 3-5 from behind the arc!), 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 28 minutes. His plus/minus of +26 was second to LeBron’s +33.

Lakers fans, Kyle Kuzma has arrived and he’s not going anywhere.

This is no longer a player that chases the ball looking for shots. He is now a star in his role using the offense to become more and more effective by the game. Frank Vogel putting Kuz back on the bench with Montrezl Harrell has really been a coup for the Lakers.

Did anyone notice who was setting Kuzma up for those dunks? Let’s discuss him next shall we?

Talen Horton-Tucker:

Talen Horton-Tucker had his best game in weeks, no check that maybe his career putting up career highs in points (18 on 7-10 shooting!) and 10 assists.

LeBron James was raving about THT’s progress after the game in his press conference.

"“He’s a sponge. When you talk to him, you can tell it’s getting stored and he applies it on the floor. This is basically his rookie season, he’s going to learn from his mistakes and we’re okay with that.”"

To think there was a reader that compared this guy to an overrated AAU player. That comment still makes the Lake Show Life staff laugh.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope did not come off of the bench but man it was nice to watch him shoot the ball for a change!

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope:

KCP scored 14 points on 5-8 shooting (3-4 from 3 point land!) looking like the shooter that helped bring home the championship in the NBA Finals last year. In this game he just let it fly instead of just aiming it and causing that high arc that messes up his rhythm.

In the end, the Los Angeles Lakers won this game shooting a season-high 62.8 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from behind the 3 point line. Five Lakers players that attempted at least five field goals shot better than 50 percent from the field. If the Lakers can get anywhere close to these shooting numbers, AD will have plenty of time to get ready for the playoffs.
