Dennis Schroder acted like he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers instead of his next contract!

This game started out eerily similar to the previous game against the Bucks. The offense was rolling and the shooters were locked in. The difference in this game was that Dennis Schroder actually didn’t bog down the offense looking for his own shot.

Could this be because Marc Gasol was on the floor looking to initiate the offense? Maybe. Could it be that Frank Vogel made quicker rotations to other options at guard? Possibly. Whatever the case is Dennis Schroder looked a lot more in control and much more efficient.

Dennis Schroder scored the same amount of points as the last (17 points) with much less shots to get there (13). More importantly, he filled out the stat sheet with 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals while playing defense.

This seven game road trip should tell the front office and the fanbase all they need to know about Schroder.

  • His job is to run the offense when LeBron James is out. He has not done that consistently.
  • He’s supposed to be a good defender of point guards. There have been nights opposing point guards have gone crazy scoring nights.
  • Now his contract situation is becoming a distraction. Does anyone remember players worrying about getting paid last year?

Kyle Kuzma and Markieff Morris have started the last two games on fire that have gotten the Lakers leads in the first quarter. For the Lakers to survive this road trip with a .500 record or better, Dennis Schroder had better focus on getting those guys the ball instead of his own numbers for contract negotiations this summer.

In the last Lessons report, Lake Show Life wondered if the Lakers had another guard as an option based on how badly the rest of the guard rotation struggles scoring the basketball. Against the Kings, it looked like an “American Idol” audition the way the guards played. Read on to see who these guards are.
