The Los Angeles Lakers are in an interesting position. The team is simply trying to stay afloat as it waits for its two superstars to return from injury. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that LeBron James and Anthony Davis could be back playing together in three weeks’ time with AD expected to return earlier than LeBron.

The Lakers have done a decent job of staying afloat. There have been moments when it was really ugly for the Lakers. Several players, in particular, were struggling through the first nine games without LeBron James.

However, there have been some really promising moments as well. The Lakers beating the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday was by far the most surprising win of the season. We cannot look too much into one game, but it was a promising site nonetheless.

Throughout this entire tenure, one thing has been constant: the Los Angeles Lakers are a well-coached basketball team. We knew this after last season and it continues to hold true. Frank Vogel is really good at his job.

That is why the Lakers are still the most dangerous team in the Western Conference once LeBron and AD return. They not only have the best star duo in the league but have a pretty good coach to back them up.

Like last season, the Los Angeles Lakers will be able to expose certain players in the NBA Playoffs.

Vogel knows exactly what he is doing and there are holes on every single basketball team, including the Lakers (the Lakers’ holes are just smaller). While the Western Conference is more wide open this season than any other, every other contending team has a player that the Lakers can expose to their advantage.

One player on an 8-10 man rotation might seem small, but it absolutely can be the difference in a playoff series. Let’s not forget how much Nikola Jokic torched Montrezl Harrell last year (and pray that it does not happen again).

The ‘true’ contenders are the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, and Utah Jazz. Let’s get into one player on each team that the Lakers can expose.
