After embarrassing the Brooklyn Nets, the Los Angeles Lakers faced Julius Randle and the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden. After playing a gem of a game on Saturday night, the Lakers left a lump of coal against the Knicks.
Lake Show Life breaks down what else happened in Lake Show Life Lessons! The only Los Angeles Lakers extended post-game report with in-depth analysis and highlights.
Well there went the Los Angeles Lakers momentum from Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers put on a Broadway performance that was the EXACT OPPOSITE of the one they put on in the Barclays Center losing to the New York Knicks 111-96 at the Madison Square Garden.
Even with this loss, the Lakers stay at the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference one game in the loss column in front of the Portland Trail Blazers. They are one game behind the Denver Nuggets who suffered a catastrophic loss losing Jamal Murray to a serious knee injury.
But it really doesn’t matter the circumstances, the Lakers had a chance to get a small winning streak going and move up in the standings. Instead the Knicks gave the Lakers a taste of the medicine they gave Brooklyn Saturday.

Turnovers sums this game up quite nicely. For the second time in three games, the Lakers giftwrapped easy points to the opposition.
- The Lakers turned the ball over 24 times.
- The Knicks scored 29 points off of those turnovers.
- Dennis Schroder led the team with five turnovers.
- The team has now turned the ball over at least 20 times in 10 games this season.
- Coming into this game, they ranked dead last in turnovers per game with 15.7.
The turnover problem was a big topic of discussion via ESPN.
Frank Vogel:
"“Really poor passing, some bad decisions and some it you have to credit the defense. But as good as we were offensively two nights ago, we were just as bad tonight,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said."
Dennis Schroder:
"“Even when AD or LeBron is there in a basketball game we get turnovers as well,” Schroder said. “So end of the day we’ve just got to be extra careful and myself — not putting nobody into this but myself — I’ve got to control even my turnovers.”"
That last quote might be true, but at least AD and LeBron can account for close to 48 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists a game. In short, the Lakers are afforded a little bit of leeway when they are in the lineup. Turnovers tend to hurt more when the offense is next to last in the NBA since LeBron got hurt.
Just saying…
