Los Angeles Lakers: 4 lessons from bad loss to the New York Knicks
By Ronald Agers
The Los Angeles Lakers have to get Markieff Morris more shots!
There has been a problem with the Lakers offense that has gone ignored for a while now. Lake Show Life brought it up during the Milwaukee and Clippers post game reports…
- Bucks: Los Angeles Lakers lose Andre Drummond to injury in loss to Bucks
- Clippers: Los Angeles Lakers get blown out on Easter Sunday by the Clippers
Markieff Morris has been shooting lights out to start games and the Lakers fail to keep feeding him the ball in the second half.
Keef has been the team’s most efficient scorer since LeBron James has been out. Dennis Schroder has been the statistical leader, but Markieff Morris has been much more efficient. For games now, Morris has been scoring in bunches in the first quarter. This game was no different.
Markieff Morris had 13 points on 5-6 shooting by halftime. He only got five more shots finishing with 17 points.
Notice the trend here? If Morris actually got more shots a game, (Let’s say 15 shots), the offense would open up even more and he would probably be the leading scorer in LeBron and AD’s absence due to how consistently he’s shooting the 3-point shot.
The Lakers need to find a way to find him in the second half.
Keef almost joined the long line of the walking wounded as he got injured and left with a lower leg injury after a dunk in the first quarter. He went to the locker room but returned before the first quarter ended.
The Lakers face a must win tonight against the Hornets. A loss here will loom large going into a tough stretch through the weekend. Another sloppy performance like this one will add up to another loss. These guys are battling for the playoffs too.
