The Los Angeles Lakers are officially entering the final month of the 2020-21 season. The Lakers’ last scheduled game of the season is May 16 against the New Orleans Pelicans. This 72-game season has flown by and the Lakers only have 16 more game to play before they really matter in the NBA Playoffs.

This year has been a drag for the Lakers. It was well documented prior to the season that the Lakers were coming off of the shortest offseason in American sports history. That has reared its ugly head during the season as the Lakers have dealt with various injuries.

We discovered that LeBron James is not indestructible and that Anthony Davis is extremely important to the team (we knew that already). While the Lakers have not been hurt too much by the covid protocols, the team has still dealt with various injuries to the role players on the roster.

It is time to buckle down, though, and once LeBron and AD return it is going to be full steam ahead. It is going to be time to ramp up and get ready for the games that really matter.

For some Los Angeles Lakers, there is going to be even more to play for.

The intrigue of the playoffs being around the corner as well as the team getting healthy is naturally going to lead to better basketball and more motivated players. That is not the only thing that is going to be driving the Lakers.

Every NBA player has something to play for and wants to prove how good they are at the game of basketball. However, as we enter the final month, there are three Lakers, in particular, that might be playing with some extra juice as they have more to prove.
