Why the Los Angeles Lakers would handle the Brooklyn Nets in the Finals
By Jason Reed
The most likely NBA Finals matchup at this junction of the season is the Los Angeles Lakers looking to defend their title against the Brooklyn Nets. There are teams on both sides of the league that can absolutely change that matchup but the Lakers and Nets are the two favorites.
It is not hard to see why. Los Angeles and Brooklyn have the most star power in the league and as we have seen time and time again, star power wins championships.
The Lakers have the best superstar duo in the league as they have two top-seven (or so) players sharing the court in LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Brooklyn has quite the star power as well with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.
The Brooklyn Nets would be a tough opponent for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.
The Lakers already have a hard path to get to the NBA Finals and would have a tough challenge awaiting them if they take on the Nets. It definitely is a much harder path to the NBA Finals than last year with a more challenging final opponent.
However, while the Nets are the current favorites because they have three stars instead of two, the Lakers are the team that should be favored in this matchup. They have fewer superstars, but they have big advantages over Brooklyn as well.
This NBA Finals matchup is far from guaranteed but if we do end up seeing it, here are three reasons why the Los Angeles Lakers would handle the Brooklyn Nets.
