The regular season is now over for the Los Angeles Lakers (THANK GOD!) as they faced the New Orleans Pelicans with a chance to get the sixth seed in the Western Conference if the Portland Trail Blazers lose to the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers took care of business beating a Pelicans team without it’s stars.

The Los Angeles Lakers wanted to accomplish two things in their matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans.

  1. Go ahead and win the game in case the Portland Trail Blazers drop the ball and lose to the Denver Nuggets.
  2. Get out of the Smoothie King Center with NO INJURIES!

The Lakers almost accomplished both goals by running away from the Pels late in the third quarter for a 110-98 win. The team finishes with a five-game winning streak and seems to be on the same roll they started the season with.

LeBron James did reaggravate his right ankle in the 4th quarter and left the game. After walking around it seemed okay. Lake Show Life will keep you informed.

The good from the Los Angeles Lakers’ win:

LeBron James set the offensive tone early!

Lake Show Life has been saying since the day LeBron put on the purple and gold that when he is in the post NO ONE on planet Earth can stop him. No one. James got in the post and dispersed the Pelicans defense like pouring water over sugar. He had 8 points and 2 assists before his uniform got sweaty.

His constant attack of the New Orleans defense kickstarted the Lakers t shooting almost 60 percent from the field in the first quarter. Plus he gave a resounding indication that his ankle is ready for the playoffs.

This is a 270-275 pound dude in his 18th year in the NBA outrunning younger players. Let that set in. LeBron finished his regular-season tune-up with 25 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.

More importantly, he got this Lakers starter in the mix as well.

Dennis Schroder got hot from distance in the first quarter!

Dennis was a menace for the Pelicans knocking down his first four shots from the field (Two from the land of plenty!) for 10 points. He was the thankful recipient for open shots every time LeBron got into the paint drawing his man away.

Schroder finished with 12 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds.

Andre Drummond yells “BOARD MAN GETS PAID!”

At one point, Drummond had 12 rebounds (5 offensive!) in 16 minutes. That is a staggering stat. Around this time, he had more than half of the entire Lakers rebounding total.

Throw in Anthony Davis and LeBron’s rebounding prowess, the Lake Show will be eating the glass in the playoffs if Dre keeps rebounding like this. He finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

The bad from the Los Angeles Lakers’ win:

Portland won their game…the Los Angeles Lakers are in the play-in tournament!

The writer really wanted the week off more than the players if that is even possible!

Montrezl Harrell did not play!

The Lakers wouldn’t be in the play-in tournament if Montrezl plays every game this season. Yes, Lake Show Life said it. There’s no justification for this.

The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ win:

Nobody got seriously hurt and the Lakers are at full strength!

That was Frank Vogel’s plan right? LeBron’s ankle was tweaked, but look for him to play Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers did all they could, but it was not enough!

The Lakers did their part through the weekend defeating the Indiana Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans in their respective games, but the Portland Trail Blazers did what they had to do beating the Denver Nuggets in their final game of the season.

The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Play-In Tournament on Wednesday night. The Warriors locked up the 8th seed with one of the more ridiculous shooting displays by Stephen Curry.

If the Lakers beat Golden State, they are in the playoffs to face the second-seeded Phoenix Suns. If they lose, the Lakers have to play for the final 8th seed against the winner of the 9th and 10th seed game on Friday night for the right to face No. 1 seed Utah.

Next. 50 greatest Lakers of all-time. dark

Well, if the Lakers lose that one…1-2-3 CANCUN!
