The Los Angeles Lakers had a choice in Game 6. Either win the game and force a Game 7 on Saturday or start scouting talent for the NBA Draft. Rob Pelinka is now on the clock. The Lakers season ended with a whimper after a loss in Game 6.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ chances to repeat as NBA champions are officially over. The end of the season is not as shocking as how it ended.

For 24 minutes, it’s like the Lakers really had no clue that Game 6 was a closeout game.

After the Game 5 debacle, Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal basically laid out a strong message to the entire Lakers roster.

It didn’t register until the third quarter. By then it was too late.

Despite many readers’ concerns over Anthony Davis’ groin injury, the Los Angeles Lakers inserted AD back into the starting lineup. More on how that worked out in a second.

Lake Show Life had a special Lake Show Life Lessons article of the checklist the Lakers had to do to survive the series.

Nothing changed outside of one minor detail in one of the headlines.

  1. The Los Angeles Lakers needed LeBron James to score 40 points for the rest of the series!
  2. Dennis Schroder had at least two games to prove Ronald Agers wrong! (No check that…ONE GAME!)
  3. Pressure the Suns’ guards full court and start bodying them!
  4. Play ALL THREE CENTERS and start laying the wood to Deandre Ayton!

The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns 113-100.

The good from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

The Lakers showed up one half late…but at least they showed up!

The Lake Show was down as much as 29 points in the first half. Whatever was said in the locker room helped. The Lakers FINALLY decided to double Devin Booker (Checking notes…Survival Lesson number three!) and they started making a run in the third quarter.

Man, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope showed some heart folks!

KCP took one shot in Game 5 and missed it finishing with no points. He’s dealing with a quad issue of his own that kept him out of Game 4. But he really competed in Game 6 and the Lakers would have lost by 40 points if he didn’t bring intensity in the first half through to the big run in the third quarter.

He finished with 19 points.

The bad from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

To all those NBA fans that compare LeBron James to Michael Jordan in those G.O.A.T conversations…

You can stop.

LeBron James stated that the Lakers had to empty all of their bullets and then throw the gun. Well, LeBron has great quotes sometimes, but doesn’t practice what he preaches.

The Lakers needed an aggressive LeBron James on the scoring end.

They didn’t get it.

The Lakers needed him to set the tone with a hot start.

They didn’t get it.

He finished with 29 points (11-26 shooting!), 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Anthony Davis lasted all of five minutes before he reaggravated his groin.

Why this guy was in the lineup is a mystery to Lake Show Life. Just be thankful the man didn’t tear his groin muscle. The franchise could have lost this guy for months Lakers fans.

It’s a foregone conclusion that AD wanted to give it a try for his teammates. However, if his intentions had anything to do with Charles Barkley needling him by calling him “Street Clothes”…

He has some growing up to do. Hopefully, this is not the reason, but it shouldn’t have been ONE of the reasons under any circumstances. The Lakers have too much invested in him for the future for this one game that they had no chance of winning.

The Lakers ignored survival lesson number three to start the game!

So much for being physical with the Phoenix Suns…

  • Devin Booker scored 22 points on 8-9 shooting in the first quarter. He hit six 3 point shots. Got any shot he wanted and the made shots barely touched the rim.
  • Jae Crowder has come a long way since LeBron James embarrassed him in Game 3. He knocked down three shots from long distance himself.
  • The Suns as a team hit double figures in 3 point shots by halfway through the second quarter!

Speaking of Devin Booker…

The man set records in this game!

Booker finished with 47 points (15-22 shooting!), 11 rebounds and 3 assists. He almost matched the Lakers in the first half 41-33.

The story from the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss:

1-2-3 Cancun!

Dennis Schroder is probably done with the Los Angeles Lakers?

This writer is not hip to social media protocols (Okay…NO CLUE!), but there were reports that Dennis Schroder made some social media changes indicating he won’t be back with the Lakers next season. He allegedly removed “PG for the Los Angeles Lakers from his Instagram bio. He eventually put it back. Make it what you will.

He averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game during the regular season and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

During this series against the Phoenix Suns, Schroder has struggled to be very kind. His averages have dropped to 13.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He is also shooting 39 percent from the field and 30 percent from beyond the arc. Coming into Game 6, he bottomed out the prior two games shooting 3-22 from the field.

He finished with 20 points.

Pass this on to the Los Angeles Lakers from Lake Show Life…
