The Los Angeles Lakers should sign Derrick Rose this offseason
The Los Angeles Lakers will have a lot of work to do in this upcoming offseason. There will be many very good players who will be free agents and some that can definitely help the team.
One of those players is veteran guard Derrick Rose.
Rose had himself a very good season as a New York Knick this past season as he turned out to be one of their most valuable players, especially in the playoffs. There is a lot of gas left in his tank as he has grown into a complete player.
Derrick Rose would be a very good piece to the Los Angeles Lakers puzzle as he can start and come off the bench as well.
There is no doubt that he can contribute and help make this team better. One of the many good aspects about Rose is that he most likely wants to be playing for a winning team as well as a team that shall be a serious contender for the title. I honestly doubt the Knicks will be in that position next year as they are still improving and growing.
If the Lakers choose to let Dennis Schroder walk, and go with younger and cheaper talent in guards such as Talen Horton-Tucker and Alex Caruso, Rose would be a perfect piece to the team as he can contribute heavily and help mentor the younger talent. I would assume that at this point in his career, winning has become the utmost important aspect for him.
In recent years, Rose’s total game has well balanced itself out for the better allowing him to be a much more special player. A very cerebral talent, Rose showed he can deliver when and if he has to.
The Lakers would most likely be able to get him for a decent price. Years ago, Rose was one of the most talented players in the NBA. This, of course, was long before his horrible knee injuries.
As great of a talent as he was at that time, you could make the case that he was not the complete player that he is currently. Of course, back then his game was much different but it wasn’t the total package it is now.
Derrick Rose is a very smart player that can thrive in many different offensive systems. He has a very nice handle on his game as he plays in a very controlled manner and has become one of the more complete players in the NBA. He would fit nicely on the Los Angeles Lakers.
