Los Angeles Lakers: Why Kentavious Caldwell-Pope isn’t safe from a trade

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the longest-tenured member of the Los Angeles Lakers and has been able to cash in on multiple contracts from Rob Pelinka. He’s certainly had his ups and downs with the team but one thing is for certain: he has earned the respect of every single Laker fan because of his tenure with the team and the performances he had in the 2020 playoffs.

Many would consider KCP as a main part of the Lakers’ core. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are obviously the foundation, but if you are going to name the third member of the “core”, it’s probably Caldwell-Pope. That being said, it is also safe to assume that many fans are expecting KCP to be on the team next season.

It is certainly more likely than not that KCP will be a Laker next season. However, in an offseason that is going to see a lot of roster changes, it certainly is not a guarantee.

Even Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is not totally safe from being traded by the Los Angeles Lakers.

The trade has to be the right price and the Lakers are definitely not going to outwardly shop KCP but a trade is still possible nonetheless. Rob Pelinka has made some shocking moves before and this very well could be yet another feather in his cap.

This is by no means an article that is petitioning for the Lakers to trade KCP. This is simply to explain why a trade is more likely than some may think.
