We always see stories that gain a lot of interest during this time of the year. One of them is the Los Angeles Lakers acquiring Kristaps Porzingis. Well, I am here to give my opinion on why the Lakers do not need him.

To be quite honest, I don’t even know how this type of story gets any hype being that it seems extremely unlikely this could ever possibly happen, and for many reasons.

First, let’s talk some facts, shall we? Kristaps Porzingis is a talented player. He can shoot and at times has the ability to be a decent rebounder but a lot of that comes from his seven-foot, three-inch frame and not his rebounding abilities.

He also does not seem to have a lot of muscle which is concerning, to say the least. This is something that surprises me because I wonder how a guy with his height hasn’t thought of or been brought along to gain some more muscle which would only improve his rebounding skills a bit more.

That being said, his health has always been a concern as he has never played a full season in his six-year career which of course saw him miss a complete season with an ACL injury.

Kristaps Porzingis doesn’t play the game with vengeance and to be quite honest, has served as more of a so-so contributor to Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. He cannot lead a team by himself as we have seen this go on for some time even during his time with the New York Knicks.

Porzingis seems to be one of those players that is more attuned to stay on the perimeter and shoot the long ball. That may not seem strange to many but when you are as tall as he is, it definitely is not something of the norm.

He doesn’t have the body, or mindset to get down low a bit more and body opponents. Once again, I am quite surprised that this part of his game has not been worked on or implemented.

Kristaps Porzingis would not help the Los Angeles Lakers at all.

Porzingis is a glorified shooter and that’s all. Other than his size, which is not utilized properly, and his shot, what exactly would he bring to the team? It seems to me that it would just be a bad move taking on a large contract and an overrated player who cannot clang and bang and seems to be unhappy unless he is the star.

Perhaps this comes from immaturity as he is only 25 years old. I don’t understand the Dallas Mavericks giving him that large contract of $125 million for 5 years. I think by now they know they have made a mistake. If he was so good, would the Knicks have honestly traded him away?

For a big guy, he doesn’t seem to get off the floor quite well. It looks to me that he is rather flat-footed and has a problem jumping. There are many that are tall like him who also have similar trouble. Just more reasons why the Los Angeles Lakers should steer clear of him.

He would not gel well in LA with the talent the team has right now. Porzingis does not seem to be a player that can have a foundation built around him similar to players such as Doncic, LeBron, Anthony Davis and so many more.
