Los Angeles Lakers: 2 reasons why a Russell Westbrook trade isn’t absurd
By Jason Reed
The NBA offseason has not even officially begun yet but with the Los Angeles Lakers getting bounced in the first round there has been plenty of offseason coverage.
Every offseason we see crazy trade scenarios that don’t make much practical sense get born. Damian Lillard has become the NBA’s latest disgruntled superstar and has thus birthed the crazy Lakers trade scenarios that won’t happen.
I know that idea of Dame next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis is extremely fun. The Lakers simply do not have the capital to trade for Lillard. His value is simply too high and the Blazers have a decent amount of leverage with the years remaining on his contract.
There is an all-star point guard and former MVP that actually does make some sense for the Los Angeles Lakers: Russell Westbrook.
The speculation surrounding Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers is not as crazy as it seems.
The reasons for Russell Westbrook being tied to the Lakers are weak. It does not matter that LeBron James and Anthony Davis followed his wife on Instagram. Fans are looking too deeply into that.
However, while nothing concrete has yet been reported, it would not be surprising to see the Lakers in the market for Westbrook. This is by no means an article to report that the team is indeed interested, just an explanation to why it could become a reality.
Let’s get into the three reasons why Russell Westbrook joining the Los Angeles Lakers is not as absurd as you may think.
