DeMar DeRozan

DeMar DeRozan is another solid player. He too signed a monster contract a few years ago of $139,000,000 for 5 years with the Raptors. (To be quite honest, that was ridiculous as well.) Then of course he was traded to the Spurs in return for Kawhi Leonard.

DeRozan is still playing at a high level. This past year he averaged over 21 points a game. I really cannot see him coming to the Lakers, however, I will say that he would be a better fit for them than Kyle Lowry would.

Of course, it would most likely take a lot to happen as the Spurs have the Bird Rights to him. Is San Antonio really going to let him walk? Are they going to go in the younger direction where they want to focus on the younger talent around them and perhaps make some moves to get some young free agents or take some younger draft picks?

Plus, if this is Pop’s last season, it very well could be that they clean house and start over. Where would DeRozan fit exactly? Especially if the Lakers choose to keep Kyle Kuzma. He is not going to come off the bench. The Lakers need a point guard.

What I like about him is that he can still deliver the numbers and contribute but is there enough ball to go around the team with LeBron and Davis? It didn’t seem to work out all that well with Dennis Schroder last year now did it? Not to sound repetitive but there is a reason why Rob Pelinka didn’t pull the trigger on this trade during the regular season last year. The Lakers should pass.
