D’Angelo Russell

The Los Angeles Lakers selected D’Angelo Russell with the second pick of the 2015 NBA Draft.

Russell showed potential to be a great scorer for the Lakers the minute he touched the floor.

As a rookie, he averaged 13.2 points and was named to an NBA All-Rookie team. However, Russell got himself into controversy with the team that led them to going as far as neglecting him on the court.

Even if a player was being double-teamed and Russell was left wide open, his teammates would still refuse to pass him the ball.

Russell recorded and posted a video featuring his teammate Nick Young talking about cheating on his them girlfriend at the time Iggy Azalea.

The Lakers tried to give the team time to get back on the same page, however, it never happened and they were forced to trade Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets for Brook Lopez and Kyle Kuzma.

Russell went on to have the best season of his career his second year with the Nets. He averaged 21.1 points and 7.0 assists on 51.2% effective field goal percentage.

Russell would have been a very solid fit on the current Lakers roster and it has been rumored that he would rejoin the team through a trade or free agency signing.

If he is able to stay healthy, he is a player that can get his own shot or create shots for others.

This is something the team desperately needs on the offensive end.

While Russell dug his own grave in Los Angeles, it would have been interesting to see how his career would have went if the team could have worked it out and he remained a Laker.
