Los Angeles Lakers: 3 picks from the 2010s we wish would have worked
By Zane Harris
Brandon Ingram
The Los Angeles Lakers selected Brandon Ingram with the second pick of the 2016 NBA Draft.
Ingram only lasted three seasons with the Lakers before he was put into the package that brought Davis onto the team. In his final year with the team, Ingram was on the brink of becoming a star and was the clear second option on the team. In that season, he averaged 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
After being traded from the Lakers and able to play a bigger role on the Pelicans, Ingram began to blossom even more. In his first season with the Pelicans, he made his first All-Star appearance. With New Orleans, Ingram has averaged 23.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.
With the team acquiring Zion Williamson, Ingram has been forced into being a second option once again, however, he has fit that role perfectly and at times seems to be the best player the team has.
He would still be a great piece for the Lakers. His length allows him to be an excellent perimeter defender. While he still is struggling to put on enough weight to guard the post, Ingram can still hold his own.
However, he truly shines offensively. He is an incredible scorer both inside and out and has even drawn comparisons to Kevin Durant.
If the Los Angeles Lakers would have been able to trade Kuzma rather than Ingram for Davis, it is safe to say the roster would be in a much better state.
