The Los Angeles Lakers made a bombshell trade on Thursday by trading Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and the 22nd overall pick for Russell Westbrook and two future second-round picks. Now, the question on everyone’s mind is when they can get Russell Westbrook’s Lakers jersey.

Those won’t be produced until the deal is officially official (August 6), so any Westbrook super fans are going to have to wait at least a week to get a Westbrook Lakers jersey (unless you hit up the swap meet, which hey, no judgment here).

Westbrook is known for being no. 0 but actually did not wear no. 0 for the Wizards. He wore no. 4 and claimed that it was the number he wanted to wear all along but it was always taken wherever he went. That number is taken in Los Angeles as well with Alex Caruso being no. 4 and likely returning to the team this offseason.

Thus, we will likely see the return of no. 0 Westbrook, especially considering what he tweeted on Friday.

Despite no. 0 being an interesting number, there is history there with the Los Angeles Lakers. Westbrook is not the first player to wear no. 0 for the purple and gold, and in fact, he is actually replacing the most recent no. 0 in Lakers history.

Russell Westbrook Lakers jersey: Every former Laker to wear no. 0

Kyle Kuzma (2018-2021)

Kyle Kuzma has donned no. 0 since he was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers and can make the case of being the best no. 0 in team history. While it never quite panned out for Kuzma, he did win a championship in LA and has the potential to blossom in a situation where he is given a bigger role.

Kuzma was the classic case of an older college prospect coming into the league and having a bigger impact right away because he was more developed. It helped that the Lakers were a non-playoff team in his first two seasons as he was given a bigger role, but the second Anthony Davis came in Kuzma’s value started to deteriorate.

At the end of the day, he can hold his head high as he was the only member of the original young core to stick around and win something with the purple and gold. He may reach out to Gilbert Arenas for his blessing to wear no. 0 with the Washington Wizards.

Nick Young (2014-2017):

The Lakers have had a good run with no. 0s, haven’t they? While Nick Young and Kyle Kuzma are not the best players in the league they definitely are interesting players. It is fitting that they donned the no. 0 right after each other and now it is being taken on by another very interesting player in Russell Westbrook.

MUST-READ: Free agents to now target after Westbrook trade

While Young won a championship with the Golden State Warriors, he peaked during his tenure in Los Angeles. In his four seasons with the Lakers, Young averaged 13.1 points per game on 37.7% three-point shooting.

He was the best no. 0 in team history until Kuzma took that mantle, which will likely be taken by Westbrook after just one season.

Andrew Goudelock (2012-2013):

Don’t remember Andrew Goudelock? Don’t blame you. He officially spent two seasons with the Lakers, playing 40 games off the bench one year and playing just one game with the team the following year.

Goudelock averaged 10.4 minutes per game and scored a grand total of 175 points in LA. He now plays for Bilbao Basket in the LIGA ACB in Spain.

Soumaila Samake (2003)

If you do not remember Goudelock then you probably do not remember Soumaila Samake, either. Samake appeared in only 13 games during the 2002-2003 season and averaged a hefty 5.9 minutes per game. He was no longer in the NBA after that season.

Fun fact: Samake was actually the third player in NBA history to test positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Orlando Woolridge (1989-1990)

Orlando Woolridge spent two full seasons on the Los Angeles Lakers and actually played a role on the team unlike the previous two no. 0s that we discussed. Albeit, it was not a large role, but he was part of the rotation and did contribute.

Woolridge played in 136 games in LA, averaging 21.4 minutes per game. The six-nine forward did not take a single three-pointer during his tenure with the team and averaged 11.1 points per game on 51.4% shooting.

Next. Why the Lakers aren't trading for Buddy Hield. dark

Throughout his career, Woolridge attempted only 88 three-pointers in 851 games played (24,041 minutes).
