The Los Angeles Lakers are entering this season with a roster that is much different than last year’s. The team pulled off the massive Russell Westbrook trade and was then tasked with bringing in various role players to fill out the roster, and thus far, the front office has done a great job.

It was important for the team to improve upon last year’s roster as there were some disappointing players from last year’s team. In fact, as great as Rob Pelinka has been in his career with the Lakers, it is safe to say that every external player that the Lakers brought in last offseason was a disappointment.

Perhaps the expectations were too high but Marc Gasol, Wesley Matthews, Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell were not as good as expected.

Disappointment will naturally happen with the Los Angeles Lakers next season as well.

It is unrealistic to expect every single player on the Lakers to be the best version of themselves and there will naturally be certain players that do not live up to expectations.

There are players who are more at risk of disappointing next season. Some of it is a mix of the direction of the player’s career and some of it is fans perhaps expecting a bit too much. While these players are at a higher risk of disappointing, it is not a guarantee that they will.

And before we get into the list, it is important to note that Russell Westbrook is not on this list. It seems like every NBA pundit is expecting this relationship to fail and if it does that won’t really be a disappointment. Even Laker fans know it is a possibility.

If anything, Westbrook is on the flip side of this coin but that is an article for another day.
