Los Angeles Lakers schedule: Predicting every game of the 21-22 season
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers schedule for the 2021-22 season has been released. While NBA schedule releases are not hyped up as much as the NFL schedule, it is still very valuable as we can see the easy stretches and the hard stretches in the schedule.
This is especially important with the team likely being as cautious as possible with Anthony Davis and LeBron James specifically.
A lot is going to happen and there are so many unknowns. There is no way I will get every game right but the final record should hopefully be close. Plus, these articles are really fun to put together, so let’s have a go at it.
Predicting every game of the Los Angeles Lakers schedule:
October 19 vs. Golden State Warriors: Win
The Los Angeles Lakers open the season in a rematch of the play-in game from last season. Like that game, LeBron and co. will look to make a statement, especially with the new-look roster. They might not try 100% for every regular-season game, but this one they will.
October 22 vs. Phoenix Suns: Win
Revenge for last season’s playoff defeat. The Lakers would have beaten the Suns if fully healthy and they prove that with a statement win. Another game in which they are really going for it.
October 24 vs. Memphis Grizzlies: Loss
The Lakers won’t be taking this game as seriously as the first two and the young Grizzlies will have something to prove on the road against the best team in the Western Conference. The Lakers lose a closely contested game in which Ja Morant takes over.
October 26 at San Antonio Spurs: Win
Did someone say blowout? The Spurs are not a very good basketball team and the Lakers are going to be upset following that Memphis loss.
October 27 at Oklahoma City Thunder: Win
Did someone say blowout, part two? Sure, it is the first back-to-back of the season and a third game in four days for the Lakers. That being said, these are exactly the kind of games that make Russell Westbrook so valuable as he cares so much every night that he has a massive night in front of his former fanbase to lead the Lakers to victory.
October 29 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Win
This is a really easy stretch of the schedule for the Los Angeles Lakers and it is nice that they can ease into the grind of the season after two hard games to start the year. Beating Cleveland at home should not be an issue.
October 31 vs. Houston Rockets: Win
Jalen Green is not going to make the Houston Rockets exponentially better in year one and the Lakers have far too much star power to let a lottery team that is going to pick in the top-five again beat them at home.
