Marc Gasol had a disappointing season for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. With the advanced numbers still being very favorable in Toronto and with Gasol’s namesake, it is safe to say that fans were expected much more than they got out of Gasol last season.

To be completely fair to Gasol, he was better than most fans gave him credit. While his offense was extremely inefficient and not what was expected, he still was a good defender for the Lakers and helped space the floor while he was on the court.

Yes, he was not as good as expected, but perhaps we should have expected less considering where Gasol is in his career.

Fans that were disappointed in Gasol last season might be happy to hear that he is no longer a lock to return to the Lakers next season. That is a blow to the Lakers, as the team only has two traditional centers on the roster.

If Marc Gasol is not going to play then the Los Angeles Lakers need to sign another big in free agency.

It sucks that these reports are happening this late as there were some other quality minimum options that the Lakers could have signed earlier in free agency. Instead, they are left thumbing through the options that are remaining three weeks after free agency started.

There are options, though, even if some of them are not the best. Here are four free agents to pursue if Marc Gasol does not play next season.
