Los Angeles Lakers: 4 players that the Lakers could be waiting to sign
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers were extremely active in the first two days of NBA free agency as the team had an entire roster to fill. The Lakers signed eight free agents in total, seven of which were coming from other teams, in a span of two days to get the roster to 12 players.
And then there was silence. The Lakers were one of the finalists to sign Andre Iguodala, who ultimately signed with the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers have not made any signings since then and while they have worked out a trio of point guards and have been tied to certain players, they have not pulled the trigger.
The Lakers have three roster spots to fill, two of which they will likely fill during the offseason, saving the one for a potential in-season signing. The team even refused to re-sign Jared Dudley with one of the roster spots, which is interesting considering the options left in free agency.
Why are the Lakers waiting? Why don’t they just sign one of the point guards they worked out, or James Ennis, who they have been attached to and is a good fit? Why not just re-sign Wesley Matthews? Why drag it out?
The Los Angeles Lakers might be waiting on very specific free agents.
There is a good chance that the Lakers have their eyes on some very specific players and that the team is waiting to sign those players. Using that deductive reasoning, we can pinpoint four free agents that the Lakers may have their eyes on that they are waiting on.
Here are the four free agents that the Lakers might be waiting to sign, and the reason why they are waiting in the first place.
