Los Angeles Lakers: DeAndre Jordan signing with LA is a lock if bought out
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers still have three roster spots to fill and there might be another big name that is soon coming to the free-agent market for the Lakers to pursue. It seems inevitable that DeAndre Jordan is going to hit the market sooner rather than later.
Jordan is a member of the Brooklyn Nets and still has two years left on his contract. However, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reported that based on what he is hearing, he would be surprised if Jordan is still on the Nets by the time training camp begins.
There are three routes the Nets can take. They can buy out Jordan, paying off the final two years of his deal at a discounted rate to save some money. They can outright waive him, not saving any money, or they can try to trade him.
It is going to be hard to trade Jordan as he is not a hot trade commodity and typically the Nets would have to package something with Jordan to convince a team to take on his contract. They have nothing to really package with him.
Thus, DeAndre Jordan will likely be bought out, and if so, the Los Angeles Lakers are a lock to sign him.
Rarely do I take a stance so firm on a potential move but if Jordan happens to hit the free-agent market then it is a lock that he signs with the Los Angeles Lakers. These are not reports from sources, it is simply reading the tea leaves of the situation and what both parties are looking for.
Let’s get into the two main reasons why I believe DeAndre Jordan signing with the Los Angeles Lakers is a lock.
