The Los Angeles Lakers have a completely different team for the 2021-22 season after falling short in the 2020-21 season. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Marc Gasol and Talen Horton-Tucker are the only players remaining from last year as the team added Russell Westbrook via trade with a slew of veteran minimum players.

As it currently stands right now, the Lakers have 12 players on the roster. A 13th is likely on the way as Rajon Rondo was bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies and the Lakers are the favorites to sign him.

The team will likely make one more signing to get the roster to 14, leaving one spot open for a potential in-season move. While that seemingly locks the roster in place while also leaving flexibility, the team can still make changes in-season.

If there is anything we know in the NBA it is to expect the unexpected. While the Lakers will have an open roster spot to utilize, they could still move on from certain players on the roster, especially if they are underperforming.

This is by no means a prediction that these players will undoubtedly leave the Lakers before the season ends. There is a good chance that all three players stay on the Lakers for the entire season. There is also a chance that a different player finishes the year on a different team.

However, as the roster is constructed today, there are three players that the Los Angeles Lakers could move on from during the season is a different opportunity presents itself. Let’s dive into the three players with the reasoning behind their inclusion.
