DeAndre Jordan is a recent induction into the Los Angeles Lakers rumors but as we have recently seen, these rumors can pick up steam and become a reality, fast. We covered why Rajon Rondo was a future buyout target when he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and now, Rondo is expected to sign a one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Lakers.

In a matter of two weeks, Rondo went from a depth point guard on the Los Angeles Clippers to a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. If I would have told you at the start of August that Rondo would be a Laker before September you would have called me crazy.

The same thing appears to be happening with DeAndre Jordan. Reports surfaced last week that Jordan is likely on his way out of Brooklyn and it would be a surprise if he made it to training camp with the team and that the two sides were working on a potential buyout.

When those reports broke, we broke down why Jordan and the Lakers were such a perfect fit for each other.

The buyout seems inevitable, and now, more signs are pointing to Jordan coming back to LA, this time as a member of the Lakers.

The DeAndre Jordan Los Angeles Lakers rumors are heating up.

While we broke down why it is a perfect fit, there was not yet a confirmed report that the Lakers would even be interested in Jordan, or vice versa. Now there is. NBA reporter Jake Fischer reported on Monday that the Lakers are the team to keep an eye on if the Nets and Jordan do complete a buyout.

There is the sourced report and quite frankly, Laker fans should expect Jordan to be a Laker if he is bought out.

The Lakers give Jordan the best chance besides the Nets to win a championship in 2022. At this stage in his career that is the most important and it is hard to see him going from a top-tier contender like Brooklyn to a mid-tier contending team.

The Lakers can certainly use another big man as well. The team only has three traditional bigs in Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard and Marc Gasol and there is no guarantee that Gasol will even play next season.

Jordan could replace Gasol on the roster but even if Gasol does stay, the team can give itself more options with Jordan. The Lakers still have two roster spots remaining and while it is widely excepted that they will save one an in-season move, perhaps Jordan would be enough to convince them enough to use both on him and a wing (like James Ennis).

Regardless, they have the roster spot and the pairing makes perfect sense for both sides. With bonafide reports now connecting the two sides, I would not be surprised if these Los Angeles Lakers rumors turn into reality shortly, just as they did with Rajon Rondo.
