The Los Angeles Lakers currently have 14 players on the roster and with the team potentially saving the 15th roster spot for an in-season signing, it might appear as if the Lakers are done making any moves.

However, that may not be the case. The team signed DeAndre Jordan, which only adds to the intrigue surrounding Marc Gasol’s future. It was already reported earlier this offseason that the Gasol returning to the Lakers was not a guarantee.

Now, it seems even less likely.

We have already broken down the logistics of how the Lakers could move off of Gasol. They could outright release him, but they would still have to pay for his salary and the luxury tax implications of it.

Or, the team could trade Gasol, purposely targeting a non-guaranteed contract to simply waive said non-guaranteed player to open up a roster spot. If the team is content with 14 players and Gasol then it won’t do this. However, if it wants to use that extra roster spot now while opening a spot for later, this could be the move.

The Los Angeles Lakers definitely can pull off a Marc Gasol trade.

While Gasol was a bit disappointing, part of the reason why is because the expectations were so high of him last season. He was still a solid defensive player and was proving to be a better floor-spacing option in the playoffs.

However, you cannot blame the Lakers if they still want to move on. No team might be willing to give up assets for Gasol, but there are several teams who absolutely would take Gasol for a non-guaranteed contract to add center depth.

Here are three teams, in particular, who would benefit from trading for Marc Gasol.
