1. Denver Nuggets

Non-guaranteed salary: PJ Dozier

The Denver Nuggets have one of the best big men in the entire game in reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. However, the depth behind Jokic at the center position is not great and adding a veteran like Gasol to take some of the regular-season load off of Jokic would only be good in the long run.

The team made a very similar addition last season in adding JaVale McGee from the Cleveland Cavaliers. As Laker fans recall, McGee was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers in a very similar deal for two non-guaranteed contracts to make room for Gasol.

The only potential hang-up in the deal is the lone player that the Nuggets have on a non-guaranteed contract, PJ Dozier. Dozier is by no means a great young player and would subsequently be waived from the Lakers but he did actually average over 20 minutes per game last season.

He was not that good, hence why he is on a non-guaranteed deal, but there is a chance that the Nuggets want to simply hold onto him for depth reasons while Jamal Murray recovers from his injury.

Dozier’s contract is partially guaranteed at $200,000, but it is far less than what the Lakers would pay otherwise.

The team has other depth options but it would not be surprising if they are a team that tries and trades for Gasol in a few months.
