2. Carmelo Anthony posts the highest three-point percentage of his career

When we ranked the top three-point shooters on the Los Angeles Lakers we did not rank Carmelo Anthony very high on the top-five list. The list was based on the number of three-point shots made, not the percentage, which hurts Carmelo’s cause.

As his career has gone on the once-prolific scorer has actually taken fewer threes per game. The wisdom of being a veteran has set in and Carmelo is taking better looks and has mostly gotten rid of the hero-ball bad shots.

Playing with Damian Lillard certainly helped open up the floor for Carmelo and playing with LeBron James is going to help even more.

Carmelo Anthony attempted 4.7 three-point shots per game last season. That is still not a small number, but much smaller than the 6.9 threes he attempted per game the year prior. On the Lakers, I would bet that the number is around the same and the shooting efficiency gets slightly better.

It does not take much for Carmelo to post the best three-point percentage of his career. Last season’s 40.9% mark is the best of his career thus far and if he makes two threes per game and attempts 4.5 shots he will be at 44.4%.
